Your Zigbee home, without Home Assistant
A small hub running Zigbee2MQTT — an SMLIGHT SMHUB, a Raspberry Pi, any Linux box — and ZigDash on your phone. That's the whole setup. No server to maintain, no cloud, no account.
Already on Home Assistant? ZigDash works with it too. Free for Android. Needs a running Zigbee2MQTT and an MQTT broker. No Zigbee2MQTT yet? Try the demo home in the app.
A lean setup
| With Home Assistant | With ZigDash | |
|---|---|---|
| What you need | A server running Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT | A small hub running Zigbee2MQTT |
| What to maintain | Home Assistant, add-ons, updates, backups | Nothing extra: ZigDash is just an app |
| Dashboard | You build it yourself | Builds itself from your devices |
| Automations and alerts | In Home Assistant | On the hub itself (Node-RED), even when your phone is off |
What it does
Builds itself
Scans your network for the broker, reads your Zigbee2MQTT devices and makes a panel for each one. No topics to type.
Works with Home Assistant
Uses the Mosquitto add-on and signs in with your Home Assistant user.
Without opening the app
Home-screen widgets, Quick Settings tiles and Android Device Controls.
Alerts
A leak, smoke, a door at night or a low battery reaches your phone, even when ZigDash is closed.
Wall tablet
Kiosk mode with fullscreen, dimming and a PIN lock.
Private
Your data stays on your phone and your broker. Anonymous usage data, which you can turn off.
Setting up
- Connect your phone to your home Wi-Fi. The scan only finds what is on the same network.
- Open ZigDash and tap Find my setup. It looks for your MQTT broker and Zigbee2MQTT.
- If it asks for a login, use your broker's user. On Home Assistant, that is your Home Assistant user.
- Not found? Type your hub's address (for example 192.168.1.20) and tap Check this address.
